Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Autumn is my favorite season and watching the leaves change from green to yellow to orange and red, is one of my favorite parts. I took a photo of the tree behind our apartment a few weeks ago. The colors of the leaves were just staring to change, mostly greens and yellows with a pop of red and orange. I kept forgetting to upload it and a few days ago I was struck by the contrast of the fiery orange with the blue sky and snapped another photo. Comparing the two I realized how drastic the change was in such a short time. It's hard to believe it {its been so unseasonably warm here the last few days} but winter is just around the corner. The blanket of color is thickening daily, and soon the final leaf will begin its descent.
