It's First Friday time in Raleigh again! While you're downtown doing the gallery hop, make sure The Carter Building (14 Glenwood Ave) is one of your stops. We will be doing DIY stamped pendants in our studio (#24) and Front Row Cosmetics down the hall (#22) will be doing make up tutorials. Several other studio's have special events planned as well. Swing by Metamorphosis Metals, and make your own personalized stamped pendant for $15. We will have an assortment of copper, brass and nickel discs in various sizes ready to go and you will add whatever text you wish with metal stamps and a jump ring so you can slip it on your favorite chain. Don't have a chain? Not a problem, we will have plain chains available to purchase as well. Feel free to drop in anytime between 6 & 9 on Friday evening (Sept 2). It should only take around 10-15 min to make your pendant. Open to ages 14+. Let us know to expect you by signing up online. After you finish your pendants, visit Melissa down at Front Row Cosmetics and enjoy a cocktail while you learn how to create striking eye makeup and sunkissed skin looks, that will let you make the most of these last few weeks of summer. Melissa is a super talented makeup artist with 10 years of experience and a background in film and television makeup. She started her company, Front Row Cosmetics, a few years ago with the mission to create high quality makeup, high pigment makeup using only natural ingredients. Another awesome sounding DIY event is at Gather over on Person St. Tin Roof Teas will be there teaching folks how to blend spices and loose teas into tasty chai blends. As a chai lover, I'm pretty bummed to have to miss this. For $5 you get to make your own blend to take home and get a little history lesson on the origin of the beverage. RSVP on Gather's website. This one isn't a DIY, but it should be on your list. Sarah Tector is having a trunk show at Quercus debuting her newest collection that was inspired by her time at Penland School of Crafts in the NC mountains this summer. I haven't seen the finished pieces yet, but have had the pleasure of seeing a few of the components she made and can tell its going to be an inspired collection. Its a mixture of hand blown glass shapes, metal forms and eclectic knot work. If you're a fan of bold, contemporary jewelry, this is a must see.
If you make it out to any of the events leave a comment and let us know what you thought or tag us on Instagram @metamorphosismetals with a photo of what you made.
